It's the Wrong Candy (Daisy Jones & The Six)

We're finally talking about Daisy Jones & the Six. We try not to yuck anyone's yum too much, but let's just say our opinion is strong. We get into nuanced stories getting simplified, what happens when (most) men write female characters, and all the changes we just don't understand. But on a happier note, Avery watched what she thinks is one of the best shows ever and Rosey is delightfully enjoying a rewatch.

Next week we're going to talk about a little-known movie from the 90s, Benny & June.

Birds Are Good Stuff (Premonition/Bird Box)

It's time for our final week of month of Sandra! We are sad to see her go. We went out with a bang, with two real downers, but fun to talk about movies: Premonition and Bird Box. Premonition has a 6% on rotten tomatoes, so you can guess some our thoughts, but we have fun breaking it all down.

Next week we're diving deep into the recent release Daisy Jones And The Six, trying to make sense of an adaptation we didn't understand but many people seemed to love. We're going to try and figure out why...

Where's Your Stuff? (Two Weeks Notice & 28 Days)

The Sandra stories continue. This week we're looking at Two Weeks Notice and 28 Days. They have nothing in common except Sandra and numbers in their titles. We talk about everything from toxic workplace "romance" to what really goes on in a rehab. We cheer and we jeer - these movies are conflicting. We've finished Daisy Jones and started Yellowjackets and we've got thoughts on both.

Next week we'll finish up our month of Sandra on an odd downbeat with Premonition and Bird Box.

A Delusional Land (While You Were Sleeping/Practical Magic)

This week we're doubling down for our second week of Sandra month, with the not-creepy-at-all While You Were Sleeping and the sort-of-creepy-but-mostly-confusing Practical Magic. We dive deep into both--endearing stalkers, quirky mishaps, feminist overtones, and more. Next week join us for our continuing tour de Sandra when we talk about 2 Weeks Notice and 28 Days.

Just Break Your Thumbs (Speed & The Lake House)

This week we start our month of Sandra! We kick it off with Speed (1994) and The Lake House (2006) aka we kick it off with Keanu Reeves. We break them both down, despite enjoying one much more than the other, and get into flying busses, magical mailboxes, and the cringiest kisses we've ever seen. In addition to Sandra, Avery watched Narcos, Rosey watched Ted Lasso, and we both played a lot of Sims.

Next week we continue with Sandra and will be talking about While You Were Sleeping and Practical...

A Solid Beta (Ginny & Georgia)

This week we're diving deep into Netflix's Ginny & Georgia, and we've got a guest along for the ride! Our old college friend Taylor has joined to help us explore all the ways this show defies expectations, and is misunderstood by some. For what we watched, Taylor fills us in on Creed III with some minor spoilers, and Rosey is reading more romcoms.

Next week we're tackling the absolute classic Mr. and Mrs. Smith!

Bombarded with Testosterone (She's the Man)

This week we dive into She's the Man. We have a hilariously good time going back to 2006 and reveling in the joy that is Amanda Bynes. It brings up way more questions about the gender and sexuality spectrums than we originally noticed, and we're here for... most of it. Rosey binged watched a show in one night yet didn't like it very much and Avery watched You and a random French movie.

Next week we have a guest joining us to talk about the incredible Ginny & Georgia.

Things Get Slippery (Misfits)

This week we're talking about the British TV Show Misfits that we both loved and watched back in 2009. No shock, we have a different experience during our rewatch of the first two seasons. We go down various tangents along the way and talk about the 2010 BAFTA awards, Robert Sheehan's legs, male privilege, and our desire to apparate.

Next week, we're looking at the ever-delightful My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

This week we're diving into the psychedelic mind-bender Everything Everywhere All At Once. We talk about intergenerational trauma, mother-daughter relationships, and hot dog hands. For what we're watching, Rosey catches us up on The Teen Wolf movie and Avery's actually listening to books! Remember books?

Drab Curtains (When Harry Met Sally)

This week we're looking at 1989's When Harry Met Sally. Avery was so enthralled, she didn't take a single note, but we've still got a lot to say. It's a delightful journey and we're pleasantly surprised that this movie holds up pretty well. We were both left charmed and full of hope and who doesn't need that?

Next week we're looking at the award winning and award nominated Everything Everywhere All At Once.

He Shipped Himself (George of the Jungle)

This week we're talking Brendan Frasier bod (and the sacrifices required for said bod) and other stuff related to 1997's George of the Jungle. There's zany hijinks and surprisingly dark and/or woke subtext. Join us on our romp through the urban jungle of San Francisco!

We're back! This week we're reflecting on what we watched in 2022. Avery and Rosey both made lists of their favorites from the year (lists below). We also recorded our disappointments but had some technical difficulties. That list is also below. We also take a peek at what's coming in 2023 that we're excited about.

Sponsored by Milk (Home Alone)

This week we're looking at the holiday hit, Home Alone. Avery's never seen it and Rosey's seen it many times so it's a fun look at the genius of the movie and all the parts that don't make sense. This movie is still pretty good and we also think it's a secret ad for milk.

We're taking some time off for the December times and we'll be back in January!

Let Her Walk (A League of Their Own)

This week we're talking about the 1992 A League of Their Own. It's not perfect, but we're fairly impressed for 1992 (though we wish we'd made more progress by now). No real surprise, these women are badasses on and off the field. We're very into them and thanks to Penny Marshall for her energy to create and direct this movie.

P.S. Geena Davis and Tom Hanks are both 6 feet tall.

We're taking a week off for Thanksgiving, then we'll be back on November 30th to cover the history of the sitcom.

We analyze the pros and cons of sequels and wokeness, and wax poetic on how crushable and problematic boys were in the 90s. Ghost Boners (Casper)

This week we're looking at and talking about 1995's Casper. It's an Avery childhood fave and Rosey is skeptical of almost all of it. Our conversation is as kooky as the movie itself. Before that we chat about what we're watching - Rosey is watching more mystical teens and Avery watched a few things on the more serious side.

Next up next week is the next installment of The Afterparty watchalong, covering High School and Zoe.

This week we're diving into the Apple TV+ original Mythic Quest! From the minds of the Always Sunny crew, this workplace comedy is one of our faves. We get into all the hijinks, narcissism, unlikeable female characters, and more! On what we watched, Avery's not loving The Rings of Power and Rosey has a love-hate relationship with Kevin Can Go F Himself.

Get Mad and Throw Crystals (Hacks S2 & Its Creators)

This week we’re diving into Hacks… again. Season 2 is out and it was so good, we had to revisit the show. This time we also talk about the phenomenal and groundbreaking creators Lucia Aniello & Paul W. Downs. Before that, we talk about what we’ve been watching. Rosey was sick so her list is embarrassingly long, but you’ll get some good recs out of it and Avery is readying a non-fictional book that’s changing her life.
